Submissions & Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSIONS STATUS

CLOSED

Hyperkube is accepting manuscripts in the erotic science-fiction and/or fantasy genres.

This includes novel-length fiction (up to 80,000 words), and short story collections, and, on a per-submission basis, works which may cross or defy categorization. The important part is that your work should be hot, and it should feel like it could live alongside sci-fi or fantasy books.

Please submit complete works via email: submissions AT hyperk DOT ink.

Submissions open on April 15th, and close on December 15th. Please note that we strive to read (at least some of) every submission, and we read all of every submission that we publish.

[Note: Submissions may close at any time, including times that are not specified above]

We strive to respond to every submission, and you do not need to be represented by an agent in order to submit.

Currently, in our 2023 submission season, we ask authors/authors’ representatives to allow up to 120 days for responses.

TURN ONS

Hyperkube Publishing Co. is currently looking, specifically, for erotica novels and stories in the following science-fiction and/or fantasy sub-genres:

  • Erotic Gamebooks – 2nd-person perspective stories, especially those that are formatted like “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, where the reader assumes the role of the protagonist (if we sign your book for publication, we can help you with formatting. Please note: “gamebook” refers to an interactive choose-your-own-path novel, and is not a “player’s handbook” or instruction manual for a game).
  • Homages – works which obviously pay homage to a familiar book, television show, or film, but which rename important or copyrighted aspects of that story. (e.g. The Adventures of Terry Hotter: Barely Legal Sorceress! ). Keep in mind that if we believe we are likely to get served with a cease & desist letter because your work is too familiar, we are likely to reject the work.
  • Erotic LitRPGs – These include progression fantasies.

Please note that works should not currently be in publication, for free or behind a paywall (exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis), and should not have been in publication within the three calendar months prior to an agreement being made between HyperKube, you (and/or your representation).

TURN OFFS

HYPERKUBE IS NOT ACCEPTING WORKS WHICH FEATURE UNDERAGE (18 OR UNDER) CHARACTERS. BE ADVISED THAT A DISCLAIMER THAT STARTS WITH “ALL CHARACTERS ARE 18 OR OLDER” DOES NOT CHANGE THE MATERIAL WITHIN YOUR STORY. “YOUNG” CHARACTERS MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD, AND ANY CHARACTERS WHO THEY INTERACT WITH MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD. ANY CLEVER ATTEMPTS TO SUBVERT THIS POLICY A) ARE NOT AS CLEVER AS YOU THINK AND B) WILL RESULT IN A REJECTION. NO EXCEPTIONS.

While we have your attention, this isn’t quite a turn off, but this is the best place to put it: We have no beef with AI. We think it’s a fantastic way to help to get creative juices flowing, or to help with writer’s block-inducing tasks like naming places and characters, developing an outline, or for your work’s “godbook,” but we want all the words, feelings, and steamy, lip-biting content to be yours. As a result, we are, 999 times out of 1000, not interested in AI-generated works (you might be able to convince us otherwise with a very compelling pitch, but don’t count on it).

ON CONSENT

Hyperkube will consider works which feature dubious consent (“dubcon”) and non-consent (“noncon”) content, but please be advised that we may include content warnings on your published works, and may possibly include these warnings per-chapter.

ON DIVERSITY

Finally, and perhaps, most importantly, HyperKube seeks to uplift diverse voices and stories. Please let us know any marginalized identities that you hold, and feel free to provide context to why your story should be told in your cover letter.

TIME TO SUBMIT, BABY

To submit a work for consideration, email submissions AT hyperk DOT ink. Please attach your work in .pdf format, and please include a cover letter (you may use a query letter if you prefer) in the body of the email. The subject should read something like

SUBMISSION: Kaiju vs. Giant Robot Sci-fi Erotic Space Opera

Thank you for considering publication with HyperKube Publishing Co. We look forward to reading your work!
